It is the most versatile and plentiful cut ever. It’s tender. It’s delicious. And even better – it’s inexpensive. This is why it is so popular.
Well, there is another reason as well. I mean, how often do we hear that yet another batch of ground meat was recalled because of E.coli? =)
That is important. To reduce the possibility of getting ill, make sure all your burgers are at least 72C / 162F. This temperature is the required threshold.

Beef Mince Nutrition
Ground meat calories are quite variable. The point is that, beef mince can contain anywhere between 30% and 3-5% of fat. This makes a huge difference.
Normally cheaper packages of beef mince contain the most fat, but not all fat is bad for you. For example, grass-fed beef is superior to conventional meat in just about everything!
Another point to consider though is fat melting out during cooking. So even though you pay less for buying cheapest and fattiest beef, you end up throwing a lot of the total weight by draining away the fat. Think of it – maybe you end up better off, when buying more expensive version?
